When she was diagnosed with Cancer, she didn’t stop teaching. She kept going to NJ every day and when the commute became too much because of her Chemo, she started teaching in Brooklyn again. Unfortunately, she had a relapse and passed away earlier in 2012. This submission isn’t about telling a sad story- it’s so that people can see that even after going through something so strenuous, Mary continued to do what she loved- she wrote, she taught and she lived.
